Denise Tolliver
The Dazzling Diamond Twirlers were initially formed by Denise Tolliver in 1993 at the Adams-Butzel Recreation Center in Detroit, Michigan. There were 10 original members ages 2-14. The Dazzling Diamonds also had a sister team founded by Denise, the Divine Image Twirlers. The Detroit team produced a Michigan State Champion; a Michigan Two-Baton Champion; and three WTA World's Most Beautiful Champions.
In 2013, Denise formed the Dazzling Diamonds East at the Washington, DC Boys and Girls Club on Benning Road NE. The organization later moved to the Ferbee-Hope Recreation Center. The Director at Ferbee-Hope was so impressed with the program that when she was reassigned to the newly remodeled Barry Farm Recreation Center she requested that DDT move the program to that site, located in the heart of Ward 8.
The Washington, DC team currently has 20 members who compete in United States Twirling Association; National Baton Twirling Association; Twirling Unlimited; Amateur Athletic Union; and Drum Majorettes of America. The Dazzling Diamonds Tiny Tot Team is one of the more exciting racking eight 1st place wins in 2015. Na'kiya Butler who has only been twirling two years, is the current Washington, DC Women's Grand Champion in both 1-Baton and 2-Baton.
